... the guy who conquered an entire scene almost
overnight with his remix of Quench’s Dreams.
The minstrel of mayhem who led the way from day
one, when he boldly stated his intentions, and with
every beat, every mix, in every set, at every club,
on almost every continent, with every record he
has made or played, he has kept his word.
That promise propelled a solo debut single that
has since become the definitive hard house anthem.
Kick It is the one that closes the last set of every
Tidy Weekender, the classic so many others aspire
to be. The tune launched the DJ, production and
remix career of a giant who instantly towered over
the hard house scene. The record launched a label
which grew into a stable, an empire, a leader of
the pack.
Vicious Circle has since clocked up almost seventy
releases, including the all-time classics Beautiful,
Yamamba, Crazy Pills and Hostile along with its
founder’s unrivalled Ten Commandments series
of ten consecutive singles.
It has spawned the renowned I Love VC albums, events
and tours and it remains the biggest and best hard
house stamp in the world. At the Hard Dance Awards
it has received the accolades of Best Single and
Best Album, while its head honcho has come home
with a Best Remixer trophy.
The powerful punch Paul packs in the mix has graced
albums on other labels, such as Tidy’s Insomnia,
Hard Dance Republic and TW9 Live, while he has had
singles snapped up by greats – Tidy, Nukleuz
and Recharge.
In 2007, the dominator’s full-on compositions
began incorporating more melodic elements which
won over a new army of the faithful. Future outings
on vinyl which will continue the trend include a
remix for Lisa Lashes and two-track collaboration
with Paul Maddox.
Glazby the guru first grew his army of fanatics
with his celebrated DJ sets at Insomniacz, and since
the turn of the decade he has clocked up countless
legendary appearances at Frantic, Sundissential,
Polysexual, Goodgreef, Storm and the Tidy Weekenders
among others.
Paul has also contributed to all of the major summer
festivals such as Global Gathering, Creamfields,
Gatecrasher Summer Sound System and the globally-renowned
Dance Valley.
The world champion’s widespread international
appeal means he is regularly aboard long-haul flights
to Australia, Japan, South Africa, Canada and New
Zealand for massive club tours, while closer to
home he is often found rocking clubs in Ibiza, Ireland
and continental Europe.
The minister of madness is currently engaged in
another first: the ‘Paul Glazby X’ tour;
three to six-hour journeys through a Decade of Dance.
The history of hard house as told by one of its
most important and influential figures. X-cellent.
